The Academy offered by the Oak Hill Fire Department / TCESD#3 provide a full Texas Commission on Fire Protection accredited course for men and women through offering classes conveniently on evenings and weekends. The Fire Academy will provide you with instruction and knowledge to be able to obtain your Basic Structural Firefighter Certification, Courage to be Safe program, S130/190, L180, Swift Water Rescue, Traffic Highway Safety Course, and IS-100, 200, 700, and 800 courses.
This Academy is conducted in a classroom and hands-on environment, ensuring you are familiar with the knowledge and skills to be ready for the state examination and to be very proficient in your future as a Firefighter. You will have the opportunity to be successful as a firefighter under our training program. Our program also provides an intensive physical training aspect to ensure you are well prepared for the firefighting profession.
The Fire Academy class is 37 weeks long and will be held on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm, Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm, Saturdays generally from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and occasional Sundays generally from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The cost of the course is $4,300.00 and includes a gear rental fee for NFPA certified live fire personal protective equipment. Tuition costs also include use of a uniform shirt, physical training clothing, all required books, facility fees, a water bottle, eye protection (safety glasses), and hearing protection.
A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required at the time of application submittal which will be applied to the total cost of the academy.
